pcso-badge

Saturday evening around 9:30 p.m., multiple calls came in to the Pinal County Sheriff's Office regarding a pedestrian hit along southbound Ironwood Rd. Upon investigation, it was found that the deceased's vehicle had broken down on northbound Ironwood. A Good Samaritan traveling southbound on Ironwood stopped to assist. The deceased ran across northbound lanes into the southbound lanes when he was struck by a minivan traveling southbound on Ironwood. The deceased died on impact and was struck by several more vehicles. The operator of the minivan was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

This case remains under investigation. Scenes like these can stay in a person's memory. When working with these types of incidents, our Deputies are given the resources they need to process what they are dealing with. In this case, there were also many members of the public who also witnessed the scene. For any of those individuals who feel they may need emotional support after this tragic situation, the Pinal County Sheriff's Office Victim Services Unit is ready to assist. Please email sonia.ortega @ pinal.gov.
